Our story

A kitchen counter, not a lab bench

The Slow Pour started as a shared notes file between friends who were tired of ten-minute videos and forum threads that argued more than they brewed.

We brew the way most people actually brew: before work, with one grinder, one kettle, and whatever bag is open on the shelf. That's the whole philosophy here. Every guide on this blog has been made on ordinary home equipment — no lab refractometers required, no beans you can only source from three roasters across the country — and rewritten until a friend could follow it without texting for help halfway through the bloom.

We publish two or three new guides a week, usually a quick morning method, one deep dive into beans or origins, and something to keep in your back pocket for when guests drop by. Each one is brewed at least twice, once by the person who wrote it and once by someone who has never tried it, so the doses, ratios, and "pour until it looks like this" cues actually hold up on your counter too.
